I relax inside my painting. In a quiet detail of the painting nobody can find me; I can disappear along the brushstrokes and traces of my relationship with the paint, moving in and out of lines, hiding behind hard edges. Long after the painting is complete I can go back there, nobody knows I am there. I am always there.
Cate Smith, Edinburgh, Scotland
